It's the little things citizens do. That's what will make the difference. My little thing is planting trees."

Environmentalism today is working together

Are you ready to talk the talk and walk the walk? GREAT! Help us do justice to the 40th anniversary of earth day. Green Columbus, the organization behind the last three central Ohio earth day celebrations, puts the focus on worksites (with a hefty dose of fun before, in between and after). Worksites give you the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and get dirty. Engage in community gardening, tree planting, river cleanup, neighborhood beautification, invasive species removal, and more, at locations all over central Ohio. Then, reward yourself and learn more about our great “Green” communities at the celebration on April 22.

How you can participate

  • Get Dirty – Volunteer! (FREE, and you get sweet perks) – Volunteer registration for Earth Day worksites scheduled for Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18 is now open. Once you are registered, you may select the environmental service project of your choice and sign up for one or more shifts. (Don't worry, we won't share or sell your info.)  Please register to volunteer by the day before your shift.
  • Gear – Sport your Earth Day pride with an official Earth Day 2010: The Update t-shirt.
  • Sponsor a Worksite – While much can be accomplished by dedicated volunteers they don’t bring home the free-range bacon. Worksite sponsors help get the job done and get a bunch of benefits in return.
  • Reserve Booth Space – If you’re “green,” be seen! Whether you’re a business with a green product or a non-profit with a green mission this is a not-to-be-missed chance to reach those who are most interested in YOUR interests (BTW, discounts are available for worksite sponsors and hosts!).  Reservations for booths accepted until April 15.
  • Become a Supporter – Get involved with an in-kind donation of any amount or an event level sponsorship opportunity.
